APPEAL No. 15
Disability Treatment for Arame
ABOUT / MEDIA / DONATE / DONORS / RESULTS
Start Date: 21 August 2009
Closing Date: 10 October 2009
Arame is a 6 month old baby boy receiving disability treatment for his arm at the Rehabilitation Centre in Yerevan.
In order to be able to continue receiving treatment he needs some financial support.
He was injured because of a doctor’s negligence at birth, when a caesarean which ought to have been carried out was not performed, leaving him with a damaged arm as he was literally pulled into the world. He was unable to bend his elbow and his hand remained clenched into a fist. His treatment however has been successful and has enabled his elbow to open and his wrist to straighten; but it is still drooping, and his shoulder is still raised, while his arm is 1 cm shorter than the right one, less developed, and the fingers still inactive.
When we were drawing up a list of children for the excursion to the zoo, we were puzzled as to how he might benefit from being there, due to his young age. However, we were happy to notice that the trip had a positive effect on him, and he also took a ride on the carousels, which seemed to be a gift for him as he was having his first tooth on the day.
We found Arame to be quite special as despite his disability he spread serenity and joyfulness to us adults and even when his sleep was disturbed he did not complain or get upset.
The purpose of this appeal is to enable Arame to visit the Yerevan Republican Rehabilitation Centre three times over the next 12 months as it is vital that the treatment is maintained while he is at this age.
The total cost of Arame’s treatment for this period will be £350. We anticipate that his mother will be able to provide for him in the future if she can obtain some help at this stage.
